英語の婉曲表現・やわらかい言い方フレーズ集(ビジネス会議編)

英語の会議では、意見や評価を伝えるときに、あえて断定を避け、やわらかく伝える表現がよく使われます。実会議の書き起こしデータ(AMI Meeting Corpus、約98万語)を分析したところ、"I think"に次いで、こうした婉曲表現(hedging)が非常に高い頻度で使われていることが分かっています。224名の現役エンジニアを対象にした実態調査(Changpueng & Pattanapichet, 2023)でも、63.4%が"I don't think"を選んでおり、実データに裏付けられた表現です。
